Don't blame me, I voted for Ron Paul Part II
The New Jersey Star-Ledger ^ | February 14, 2009 | Paul Mulshine

How quickly they forget.

All these dupes of the national Republican Party, I mean.

Just a few months ago John McCain was promising a plan that would have created a budget deficit equal to or greater than the one now being created by Barack Obama.

But now that it's Obama who's in the White House, the Beltway Republicans are trying to convince us that they've seen the light and converted to fiscal conservatism.

Why would he want to change that when he was calling for more entitlement programs of his own?

His only entitlement was prescription drugs. He promised that in his campaign in 2000. If he hadn't, Gore would have put his PD plan in when he won. Cheney wanted him to drop PD, but he refused because it was a promise. Were their any other entitlement programs he instituted I'm unaware of?

I voted for him despite his promise for a PD plan.

Your right, it can go higher and/or crash

Yep, so its basically meaningless. Like I said, just a tactic to support a POV.

I don't disregard what he did. It was just half stepping. He could have done a lot more. And again I reject your pointing to Clinton or the "what ifs" candidates. Clinton was gone before 9/11 and the "what ifs" never happened. When it comes to national security the buck does stop with the President.

You can also credit the Minute Men, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the economic downturn with lower apprehension rates of illegals. The BP does a good job with what they've got. They could have had a lot more without one new law or a single new budget increase. Bush simply didn't use what was already available.

So you just disregard the progress made on the border and the accompanying drop in illegal immigration?

The drop was mainly due to the souring economy not the lackluster border work although the few workplace raids helped a little although they were far a few...

I always have believed that GWB used his available resources to track down Jihadists after 9/11, not chase Mexicans.

How about the Hezzbolla and Hamas infiltration of the southern border as reported by the FBI and Homeland Security!... Doesn't seem like the border was that secure!

I guess Teddy Kennedy’s education bill isn’t technically an entitlement program. But it is socialist and it’s not something the Fed gov should be doing. And what about all the welfare gone to Africa? Is that fiscally responsible? Is it Constitutional?

We have yet to be attacked by Muslims using the southern border for access..

Besides, you can never defend our porous borders enough to keep small determined groups of men from crossing it. That's why you kill the bastards in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Somalia.

You’re hitting all the topics I’ve defended the President on for years...

For NCLB, once again, he promised education reform to get elected. HE DID IT. True reform the NEA couldn’t wiggle out of...real tests that showed progress or the lack of it...matter of fact, lib school teachers hate him for it. Kids actually can read and write better because of it.

You know Kennedy tried to distance himself from NCLB just about as soon as it was passed. GWB conned Kennedy, not the other way around.

It was Federal money for schools. Billions. Not a conservative thing to do.

We've had foreign aid forever, and saving children from malaria and aids is money well spent in my book...wherever those children are.

Oh he did it alright and we will be paying for its failure for years to come!

Point was is it Constitutional?... no it isn't, and if you disregard the Constitution here and there, where does it stop?

It didn’t fail, and libs have been screaming about it being underfunded for years....(I know a lot of teachers). Of course Obama will gut it and increase funding for nothing.

Point was is it Constitutional?

Obviously....Congress approved it and no one appealed to the SC to stop it.

Not a conservative thing to do.

No, but I don't think abolishing federal funding for schools would have gotten past Daschle....the next best thing was to make the funding count for something.

We have the test results to prove it worked.

Well, there you go. You aren’t interested in what is or isn’t Constitutional. See ya!

Paving the way for the eventual Socialist takeover.

A little late on that pardner....I'd welcome a socialist takeover compared to what's really coming down the pike.

Congress doesn't know what the Constitution is anymore, they just throw out a law and the Executive and SCOTUS just rubber stamp it, that's why we need to get back to the basics and clean house.
