Your article isn’t the one I was thinking of (but I have seen it before, on FR and elsewhere, and I remember the outrage it created)...The article I was remembering was more recent, from 2005 or 2006 or thereabouts. Is it possible that outrage from the earlier go arounds with this BS made the IRS decide to come down hard on later attempted fraudsters? Maybe, maybe not...I just remember being cheered to read of the IRS’s punitive fines against the 20058-2006 people who tried the same stunt (I *think* the article I saw was from the KC Star, but I may be misremembering.)
