Snowe is a liberal from a liberal state in a liberal part of our country. And, the question that keeps popping up in my mind is if the Northeast USA, Maine included, with all it's wonderful Liberalism which includes the exorbitant tax rates, failing governments and working environments ruined by union thuggery, is so danged great how come so many of the residents from there are fleeing in droves to conservative states like Tennessee? I truly fear what large numbers of Libs moving into my beloved Tennessee will do to our quality of life in the years to come....

You should fear it, my friend.
Maine was not always like this. It was once a solid Republican state. From the 1960’s onward Maine has been flooded with liberals, hippies, moonbats and radicals from all over the country. Many were from Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey. They got involved with local government, school boards - everything.
Changed the whole damned state.

"I truly fear what large numbers of Libs moving into my beloved Tennessee will do to our quality of life in the years to come.... " If you want to see what relocated North Eastern Liberals can do to a state, one needs look no further than North Carolina. Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) has seen explosive growth due to NE transients the last 15 years. And as a result, North Carolina has moved well to the left.
Liberals (especially in retirement) move to escape the punishing, confiscatory tax laws, only to vote for people in their new domicile, who enact punishing, confiscatory tax laws. It makes no sense.
