This tactic, in and of itself - a sitting president going into districts of dissident congressmen and blasting them to their constituents - is nothing new. It was popularized by none other than Franklin D. Roosevelt himself.
If only his agenda was as benign as this particular tactic, he might not have to bother to get some of the GOP support he craves.

FDR tried that in blasting Conservative Democrats and it was a spectacular failure that resulted in a blowback in the 1938 midterm elections (alas, the GOP had been so obliterated in 1936, they were too far away from winning back control, but won enough numbers to give him heartburn).
