About that 75%:

” In that year, a quarter of the nation’s families did not have a single employed wage earner. Even those fortunate enough to have jobs suffered drastic pay cuts and reductions in hours. Only one company in ten failed to cut pay, and in 1932, three-quarters of all workers were on part-time schedules, averaging just 60 percent of the normal work week. “

From - http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/learning_history/children_depression/depression_children_menu.cfm

I had looked up this very issue yesterday. Kinda puts a whole new spin on it.

I saw one I really wanted and hubby was going to get for me but the seller didn’t take credit cards. :(
It was a pre-ban mini 14

That is exactly what I said to Dh about the story being used over and over by Dems. Anytime the police or fire dept are hiring there is always a line. Everybody grows up wanting to be either or so naturally when they hire there is a line, DUH!

I keep holding on to the fact that my Grand parents meet during the depression where my Dh works now. :) I hope the place makes it through these times too.

I agree but the dems are in charge right now and wouldn’t do that.

The thing that will get bad is if the government gets to where they can’t send the welfare checks. I’m serious about this one. There are parts of New Orleans where no one’s held a job for five generations. The only industries are welfare, drugs and burglary. The cities that depend on welfare will burn if those checks dry up.

It would have been very easy for those b*stards to suspend the income tax for a year and borrow as they did for public spending. Best of both worlds. Private expenditure and enhanced public spending on infrastructure. Might have worked. But, no... no tax cuts because power is being concentrated in government, unions and social organizations. The individual is weakened by this policy. That is what they want. Weak masses and strong government and allies.

Juxtapose that with Obozo’s popularity ratings over 60%.

The last such disconnect was during Clinton's impeachment.

His personal approval rating was south of 30%. But his job approval rating remained above 60%.

I've no idea why, either.

Which is why they'll print the money to write the checks.

The MSM won’t turn on ANY Democrat; they will only turn on a Republican. We watched as Clinton humiliated us and flaunted the law and his power. The MSM exalted him to the level of somethin’ he wasn’t, blithely reporting his behavior and then sublimating it as something admirable. It is a joke that Hillary has advanced like she has given that she is the antithesis of what feminists claim to admire. If Obama does not deliver lots and lots of freebies to his base, his base will eventually get real mad and turn. However, he WILL deliver lots and lots of freebies to his base. Ain’t that grand?

You aren’t kidding. I lived there. Deal with NO PD and you want to find a mugger to report them to. I was there in 1978 when NOPD went on strike during Mardi Gras. THE CRIME RATE WENT DOWN!!! PD went on strike and the crime rate went down.

He's delivering all that the Left wants - and fast. NARAL leader said they thought they might have to shut down their offices soon, because they are getting 100% of their agenda so quickly.

It's mindboggling to see what has happened to us in just 3 short weeks. We have no counterbalance - it's a 1-party system...and with that kind of complete control, he'll destroy the nation inside of 5 years.

No one in my house votes for Democrats, not even the one Democrat or DINO! He voted for Bush then McCain like the rest of us! He’s elderly, and a retired veteran!

The point is that things will not get that bad until after the bulk of the asset devaluations are complete.

Give it until 2011-2012 before things get crazy enough to warrant stockpiling.

You should be able to buy anything you want for half the price by this fall.

This is not to say you can’t make short term profits on this frenzy over the next couple of months by trading gold, gold stocks or selling guns and ammo to the paranoids.

That would just about do it. Especially if you throw in:

7) Enact Congressional term limits;

8) Repeal the minimum-wage laws;

9) Build the @#$&*()@#$ southern border wall;

10) Jail the heads of all companies that hire illegals;

11) Rescind all "green" industrial subsidies;

12) Start drilling offshore, working the oil sands, and building nuclear power plants; and

13) Deport -- I don't give a rat's where to -- all second-through-nth-generation welfare recipients.

Then we can get around to the really fun stuff, like repealing the 16th and 17th Amendments.
