SANTA FE, N.M. - Former astronaut Harrison Schmitt, who walked on the moon and once served New Mexico in the U.S. Senate, doesn’t believe that humans are causing global warming.

"I don’t think the human effect is significant compared to the natural effect," said Schmitt, who is among 70 skeptics scheduled to speak next month at the International Conference on Climate Change in New York.

Schmitt contends that scientists "are being intimidated" if they disagree with the idea that burning fossil fuels has increased carbon dioxide levels, temperatures and sea levels.

I met him at an NSS Conference. I bought his book and we dicussed returnng to the moon. He says that there is enough Helium 3 to build fusion reactors on the moon and beam electrical energy to Earth.

His plans would cost a 10th of the Stimulus package and would really create jobs and wealth for all mankind!

Not many on this planet are more intelligent or better educated than US Astronauts.

The Commie ‘RATS have a lot of money invested in their “global warming” hoax. They are counting on getting that and much more back. The Porkulus Maximus should do it for them.

Schmitt is an excellent scientist, but the enviro-nutjobs will dismiss him because he’s a Republican.

Yep. I'm kind of glad he only served a single term in the U.S. Senate, though. Look what long-term exposure to that place did to Glenn.

He makes the point I have been trying to make with these nuts for a long time.

“Not that the planet hasn’t warmed. We know it has or we’d all still be in the Ice Age,”

It is not possible to believe in man made global warming if you have even the slightest knowledge of history.
