In the UK, the people at NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) determine not only the cost effectiveness of treating the elderly but also make decisions as to which experimental drugs and/or procedures will get funding and which won’t. Fun, huh?

Honey, the NICE people say “We’re sorry but you’re life is not worth saving, have a NICE day!”

(I’m not kidding about NICE. Look it up.)

Try reading C.S. Lewis's That Hideous Strength. The N.I.C.E. ("National Institute for Coordinated Experiments") was in there, too.

Cheers!
