Earnhardt triggers 9-car accident in Daytona 500
10 minutes ago
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch have been knocked out of the Daytona 500 in a multi-car accident started by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Busch led a race-high 88 laps before the accident, which came just after a restart with 75 laps to go in Sunday’s race at Daytona International Speedway.
Earnhardt was trying to pass Brian Vickers, who blocked the move by pushing Earnhardt down below the yellow out-of-bounds line. When Earnhardt re-entered the racing surface, he clipped the corner of Vickers’ car to trigger a nine-car accident.
Kurt Busch, Robby Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Jamie McMurray, Scott Speed and Carl Edwards also were caught up in the accident, which sent Kyle Busch, Johnson and Vickers to the garage.

In spite of the fact that my driver benefitted, I still think the lucky dog rule needs to go (along with the Chase, the green-white-checkers, and the top-35 lock-in).

Jr pardoned. No ... he'll be public enemy #1 for the next couple of weeks ... at least with other drivers.

If you've been watching it that long, you'd know how tame it is compared to Dale Senior's days ;-) Senior put more than a few gray hairs on people's heads. For my part, I was kinda glad to see that move. Looked a little bit like his daddy there.
Yeah, I know, that statement's gonna make me unpopular. Ain't worried about the popularity contest. I like Jr. to win the races. It's in his genes.
To: vox_freedom
Nope. Pretty much absolved himself from any wrong-doing.

Did he really turn into him, or was he just trying to stay on the track and keep momentum going. Yeah, hes frustrated and needs to get back up to the front, but I cant agree with DW on this one.
Thinking about it, if you didn't have that Lucky Dog/Free Pass rule, we wouldn't have had that. Junior wouldn't have been trying to so hard and wouldn't have been upset and Vickers wouldn't have been trying to so hard, especially with the rain coming. Getting back on the lead lap, you could easily jump 10 spots in just a few laps, and so everybody a lap down who is up at the front is going to be doing everything they can to be in the free pass spot.
To: ZirconEncrustedTweezers
Agreed. Lucky dog’s a dumb rule.
