"Bush can take some credit for these strategies in attempting to fix it. The housing bubble is a major issue. It was irresponsible to allow people to purchase homes they could not afford."

Didn't Bush try to have that community Redevelopment bill amended 3 times, but it was voted down each time?

President Bush has signed into law a $152 billion economic stimulus bill approved by Congress last week.

(snip)

“I readily concede I chucked aside some of my free-market principles when I was told by chief economic advisers that the situation that we were facing could be worse than the Great Depression,” Bush said today at his final White House news conference.

Bush said he is willing to ask lawmakers for the second half of the $700 billion Troubled Assets Relief Program if the president-elect wants. That would allow Obama to begin using money from the program, which has come under fire from Congress and the public, immediately upon taking office Jan. 20.
