Anybody know anything about Tom Schieffer?
This is important, because they’ll be doing redictricting in four years.
No Democrats period. They are sell outs. They have proved it.
Bob Schieffer is as far left as they come.
He’ll have to beat Kinky Friedman in the RAT primary
Then, IMHO, he is automatically disqualified as you cannot associate with a cur dog and not get fleas!
Although having had positions in the Bush administration, Schieffer calls himself a Democrat and says that if he does decide to run for Governor, it will be as a Democrat.
Why am I not surprised...he's a Bushbuddy after all!
AND Chris Bell who ran 4 years ago...
All we have is RINOs and Libs running for Gov.
Closest thing to a Conservative, an ex-cheerleader, ex-Dim, Rino and an ex-cheerleader, pro-abortion, illegal loving RINO.
NO DAMNED DEMOCRATS! Got it? Good.
John Thomas Tom Schieffer was sworn in as the 27th U.S. Ambassador to Japan on April 1st 2005, and presented his credentials to the Emperor on April 11th 2005. Since coming to Japan, he has worked to strengthen the U.S.-Japan alliance, increase trade, and facilitate the realignment of U.S. forces stationed in Japan, among other issues.
Before coming to Japan, Ambassador Schieffer served as the U.S. Ambassador to Australia from July 2001 until February 2005. During his tenure in Canberra, he coordinated closely with the Government of Australia on efforts to fight global terrorism and helped to deepen cooperation on rebuilding efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was also heavily involved in the conclusion of a free trade agreement between the U.S. and Australia in May 2004.
Prior to his diplomatic service, Ambassador Schieffer was an investor in the partnership that bought the Texas Rangers Baseball Club in 1989, with George W. Bush and Edward W. Rusty Rose. He served as team President for eight years, responsible for day-to-day operations of the club as well as overseeing the building of The Ballpark in Arlington, Texas. Ambassador Schieffer has also had a long involvement in Texas politics. He was elected to three terms in the Texas House of Representatives and has been active in many political campaigns.
Ambassador Schieffer attended the University of Texas, where he earned a B.A., a M.A. in international relations, and studied law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1979.
This guy screams "Running for office to get pork for me and my buddies." He may have something I don't see from looking at his resume, but looks to me like a typical pasty slightly overweight bureaucracy type. W had his father's name, but being part of management for the Texas Rangers doesn't buy you much popularity. Hey! Why ya readin the newspaper upside down? I want to see the Rangers in first place. W still has some clout in Texas, but it's more because he's one of ours than his policies, although he could definitely steer some inside clout and money towards Schieffer. Schieffer will also get glowing coverage in the media. Right now, there are no big name Dems in Texas, so the primaries could be his. Kinky is a one trick phony, but that could be enough in the Dem primaries. Perry is seriously damaged goods right now, and Kay Bailey is a pro-abort, which will depress turnout for her with the religious conservatives. It's going to be an interesting campaign year in Texas.
Heck, I think I'll run. Here's my campaign motto:
Dan Patrick (Texas state senator):
or
Jerry Patterson (Texas Land Commissioner... and a conservative Texas A&M Aggie Former Student):
Yes, that's a Texas A&M Aggie ring Mr. Patterson's wearing... also check the A&M Corps lid on the book shelf.
Gig 'Em!
D or R. As a pal of W’s he is strongly suspected as a lib.
