I do not at all presuppose that every one who accepts the theory of evolution is ipso facto atheist.
Indeed, both TXnMA and DallasMike are scientists - embrace scientific observations and theories - and I'm very honored to say, are my brothers in Christ.
I would however say that atheists often appeal to science as their "proof" that God does not exist. Which is ridiculous per se because science limits its inquiry by methodological naturalism so can hardly be cited as an authority for something it never considered in the first place.
Nevertheless, the likes of Dawkins promote atheism under the color of science which is just as troubling as promoting a particular theology under the color of science.
In my view, "Nature did it!" is every bit as halting to further inquiry as "God did it!"
If you are interested in my actual views on science vis-à-vis faith, you might check out this thread or this one.
Beyond that, yes am clearly one who wears Jesus on her shoulder - as well as every other fiber of my being.
Maranatha, Jesus!!!
You are obviously a thoughtful poster on the topic, and I, of course, respect your opinion. Numerous other posters, though, are not quite so open-minded. Yes, athiests do often use evolution as a tool to prove the non-existence of God. That, however, does not mean that they are correct.
It is based on the above that I put forth my “weak in faith” argument. The posters to whom I refer are apparently so uncertain about their own Christianity that they attack the tool used by their opponents to support their opponents’ atheism. Instead, they should be confident that their opponents are wrong (as I am), and acknowledge, if not accept, that evolution may in fact be God’s way.
But they don’t. They take the easy way out and focus on the words, not the faith. Jesus is more than words.
