BS. The Patriot Act was nothing new. In fact we have been using for decades a tougher act against the mafia called RICO. Guess you'd rather have terrorists have more freedoms than crime bosses. The patriot act has more over site and more redundant checks against infringements against personal freedoms than anyone should reasonably expect after an act of war which 911 was. Or would you like to tell me stories about how you, your neighbors or relatives got dragged away in the dark of night. Utter bs. The Patriot act wasnt a fork in the road, it was an evolution in our government's obligation to fulfill its primary obligation which is to protect us from our enemies.

How long was the bill debated after being introduced to congress before it was voted on?
Rants about terrorism were not the topic, but major bills pushed through with a sense of great urgency and little debate is.
It does not make one a terrorist sympathizer to observe that the bill was off-the-shelf-ready waiting for opportunity and pushed through with almost no debate.
