Obama Misreads His Mandate
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 02-12-09 | STEVEN F. HAYWARD

-- Reagan didn't assume his landslide was a license for whatever he wanted.

President Barack Obama's honeymoon period seems to have ended quickly. That's because Mr. Obama doesn't grasp the essentials of presidential leadership. Rather than making a compelling case for his economic policies, he has resorted to curt rebuffs, such as telling House Republican whip Eric Cantor, "I won." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the same thing the same day: "We won the election; we wrote the [stimulus] bill." This is the trope of a party that has lost its ability to make an argument.

"Government isn't the solution. Government is the problem."
Ronald Reagan

"Only Government can fix what ails us."
Barack Obama

The contrast is stark.

Well it seems to be working for him for the moment. Lets hope he and and not the country pay for his imperious attitude sooner rather than later.

Well, Obama won the election. Let him sign the stimulus plan with minimum GOP help. With his stimulus plan, he will officially own the economy.

The current president is a child.

America is a great country, and we can survive this neophyte. But its going to require every ounce of our greatness to overcome it.

Bush didnt act that way, although that is how he was treated by the opposition and the media.

He should have used his power to cut spending and break the fillibuster (with majority governement), but he was a wimp, as were the Rupukelipins. And look where it got us. To hell, with no remorse.Pathetic.

Why didn’t everyone else in that room turn to Obama and say, WELL, I WON TOO. What’s your point?

The arrogance of this pompous ass will reveal his ineptness for one and all to see. May he drag the rest of the RAT gutter scum and MSM down with him.

I’m thinking this is not likely.

I do wonder how long the MSM will cover for him.

Rush says “forever”, but I question how long this can really go on, especially as dangerous nations rearm, our economic health continues to spiral down the drain and criminals are released into the streets.

Hey, I thought the same thing. Great minds think alike. Except maybe they could have said, "Well, I won too. And my voters think your ideas stink and they want me to fight them to the full extent of my capability."

Remember this Ronald Reagan quote?

"Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours. And recovery is when Jimmy Carter loses his."

Time to amend it a bit:

"Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours. And recovery is when Barack Hussein Obama loses his."

He couldn’t care less about a mandate or leadership. His paramount concern is following the socialist agenda of supplanting democracy with socialism.
