We should be so lucky. Albania before 1990 is more like it. Muslim, after all.

>> "The impression in Israel is that the Obama administration has already made its preference known and that its preference is for Kadima - and that impression isn't going anywhere," said Georgetown University professor and Israel expert Michael Oren. "They'd rather work with a centrist government than a right-wing government." <<

Actually, Obama's "preference" would be another far-left Arab hugging quack like him as Israel's prime minister. But Obama knows Israel's left-wing parties don't have the votes to make that happen. So a squishy "centrist" party is his next best hope.

Good thing Obama (and America) have no say in who gets to lead Israel then.

They, like most of us, lived through Carter. I'm sure the lesson wasn't lost on them.

“Arabs see little hope for peace from whatever government emerges”

Doesn’t matter what the Arabs say does it. There will never be peace until Israel, actually the World eliminates Islamic aggression.

I hope they publicly urinate themselves if Israel elects a Conservative government.

“I bet O is going to be the most anti-Israel President in history”

Israel deserves to lose some teeth over the Liberty, the Pollard affair (I do believe the US unofficial version of this, otherwise I have zero doubt clinton would have pardoned pollard when asked to-clinton apparently faced full-blown statement of intent to resign from cia chief and secdef, iirc?), the transfer of patriot missile data to china in the early 90s (the chinese could just buy from the US later), but I really sympathize with the impossible situation they are in vis a vis their own arab population and the adjacent territories that are essentially breeding grounds for permanent insurgency now.

I cannot imagine long-term demographic planning in israel now. If they cannot persuade a very large number of jews to emigrate to Israel constantly, at some point down the road, jews become a voting minority in the country. It boggles the mind.

That said, at some point, soon or years from now, matters there may simply slide out of control into a regional war which I suspect will not end as well for israel as the last 2 did. In addition, presumably this will start all kinds of dominos falling around the world. Sigh.

I will add that Nations have enduring interests, not enduring alliances (and never friends), and it is fair to say that we have much more in common interests with israel now than at any time I can name in the past. This is not to say that our interests are identical even on the stuff we are essentially facing the same cast of enemies on - israeli and american interests in the region are different, in part due to the US relationship/oil interest with the gulf states and saudi arabia, and the long term security needs of each country (not quite the same). Just that it is always well to remember the above adage.

I do not think that even if israel had a pollard-data-trough now that they would share with the chinese or russians simply because they absolutely cannot screw up their relationship with the US now.

I bet there's no ACORN in Israel.

I wouldn't count on anything. IIRC the Clinton regime sent James Carville with a campaign management team to help Ehud Barak beat Bibi.

Once Israel finally takes decisive action to end the Iranian nuke threat, look for 0bama’s statement of condemnation to appear in the Arab press outlet that he granted his first interview as POTUS to.
