Good video. Some posters surmised that the victim may be involved in gang activity. Hard to say but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. Here in SW PA a local Pittsburgh tv station did a study a year or two ago and found that there were well over 300 home invasion robberies in Pittsburgh in the prior year. Some undoubtedly involved drugs/gangs but the ones that I know details about were innocent citizens targeted because they were thought to have money or prescription medication.

That said being the victim of a home invasion robbery is far more likely than being struck by lightning.

Looks like crime pays, perps had nice car and designer clothing. Panzerfaust into the car with jerks in it would have been more spectacular.

I don’t think you would have time to say it twice. ;)

That would have livened things up. ‘Course only the military, police and criminals can have those.

Two of the perps forgot they drove to the scene of the crime. LOL!

So in a situation like this, which weapon would have been most effective? A shotgun, rifle or a handgun (9mm/.357/40)?

I’m also interested to know just what caused the homeowner to see what was happening via the surveillance cameras. If we had those installed, I know I sure don’t have the time to be watching a monitor 24/7.

Batten down the hatches as the crime wave spreads from the Mexican across America.

The stock answer is usually "the weapon you have at hand", but for close-in work my nod would go to a 12 ga. shotgun. YMMV.

My guess about how the homeowner knew he had company would be that he had a motion-activated chime installed with his surveillance cameras. Either that or dumb luck.

My personal preference if access time is not a factor would be a 12 gauge home defense shotgun with 00 buck shot. It reduces the need for shot accuracy (in a time of panic) and you have a 9-15 in 1 shot chance of hitting the perp with a pellet, each of which is equivalent in size to a 33 caliber. If you prefer a pistol, go with something like hydro-shock bullets to maximize damage. Preferences are like opinions, everyone has one.

That story could’ve been written better...Oh wait, it’s TV...

Muh bad...

“...retreated and took off...”

Kinda repetative I guess...

Even thought I am grammicably and speelingly challenged at times...I probably shouldn’t complain...;-)

Well, my imagination doesn’t contemplate such a senario...But I do see the horror of such a situation...

Somehow I imagine...No, I know for a fact...

That the powers at be do not consider an armed populace capable of a consistant response to such a crime...And those they know who are personally “armed and safe” are considered by them to be criminals and guilty before they choose to defend themselves in a situation like this...

Screw ‘em...

The video feed can be routed to your television and left up in the "picture in picture" small window.

I know several cops in the Dallas area who have upgraded their home alarms with camera systems. When the cops start beefing up their home security, it's definitely time to worry.

I have no idea. I have an old pellet gun, and don’t even know if it works.

Hollyweird uses specially constructed weapons. They have a restriction inside the barrel so that gas pressure from the blanks is enough to cycle the action. This works like the blank firing adapters the military uses for training, but is internal rather than external. Additionally the blanks they use produce much more flash than regular loaded ammunition, or military type blanks. These are highly visible even in bright sunlight, let alone in the dark. More dramatic and photogenic don't ya know.

Either he "got lucky", or more likely he has motion detectors as well as cameras. I'd have the detectors tied not only to some kind of alarm or alert, but also to the recording capability. Although you could just have a first in first out recording scheme on a hard drive.

A shotgun, rifle or a handgun (9mm/.357/40)? Uzi

I think a compact weapon, but heavier than a pistol cartridge. Maybe a FN P90?

or it's big brother the FN F2000

Although due to the unconstitional National Firearms Act, you or I would probably have to settle for the longer barreled semi-auto versions.
