Didn’t know if you’d be interested in pinging the KY group or not.

I’m calling and calling; of course I’m sure Mitch has my number blocked by now. :0)

“OK and then what? We are down to 38 Republicans and do not have the vote to filibuster any bill.”

YOU are stuck in the old tried and failed ways of the the GOP. These people are liberals. Be they in the GOP or the dem party they will vote how they please, and how they please is socialist.

Listen, Im sick of tolerating opinions such as yours. Because the GOP is filled with failures such as yourself is the reason I no longer call myself a republican. it is also the reason that Newsweek can proudly proclaim “we are all socialist now”.

Oh.. and to answer your question directly... “Conservatives” don’t have the votes to filibuster a bill any way. With any future bill, as with the present monstrosity, the GOP will fail because they allow the enemy to walk among their ranks.

I am talking facts and numbers and you are going on a hysteric tirade. The issue here is that we do not have the vote to filibuster plain and simple. You want to get rid of liberal Republicans then challenge them during the primaries and defeat them. The next step is to win the general election against a democrat. Hopefully we can defeat Specter in the primaries in 2010 and then our biggest challenge is to defeat the democrat candidate in 2010. Remember that Rick Santorum one of the most conservative Senators was defeated in 2006 because Pennsylvania is not a conservative state. It is a huge challenge when facing a majority of electorate that do not agree with you.

What exactly could they do? Vote against it and move on.

It sucks, what frankly, what other move could they take?

Of course, what would those do but delay it for a few days?

The thing is, it’s gonna pass. We just have to deal and move on, knowing the Dems will be out of power soon enough. I don’t like it, and I strongly urge contacting McConnell and the moderates still to try to sway a vote or two. But, I think it is going to pass. Basically it is very hard to stop a new president from getting what he wants, and we tried...

If I understood correctly, Cong. Shadegg just told Megan that 1.1 billion will go for the “study” of future health care changes. So no matter how the Dems spin it, health care is still in Porkulus. Shadegg is promising Megan that he will watch this closely.

-- Of course, what would those do but delay it for a few days? --

It would make the impression that the GOP was serious in its objection. The way it is, a not insignificant number of people perceive a shortage of objection, and equate it to a shortage of spine. I'm not saying that's the right connection to make, but it's a connection that flows fairly naturally.

While in the midst of not using every procedural device, the GOP could make it clear that it could (object and delay instead of go-along to get-along) and that it is exercising restraint even though it is mad as hell. But instead, it seems not the least bit angry; just resigned.

I agree with you that the outcome is a foregone conclusion. But the show that proceeds as the inevitable unfolds is important too.

They are all in the septic tank together. The country needs to flush the septic tank, but the voters are too dumb to know any better.

Here is the salient point.

“It is a huge challenge when facing a majority of electorate that do not agree with you.”

You DO NOT become socialist to win the election. When viewed from the perspective of ideology, you have won NOTHING. You have lost even though some political party won, because in the end your party is swallowed by the ideology you are attempting to defeat. This has been the case with the GOP. You cannot argue that the GOP’s leftward slide has not been SIGNIFICANT. All in an effort to win an election in areas of the nation where the population votes for socialists.

The only way we are going to win this ideological war is for our “army” to be of singular purpose and singular cause. What army invites the enemy to fight “along side” them??? Just THINK about that statement... We are essentially inviting enemy combatants into our ranks. What do we expect to HAPPEN?!

Good point. It does show resolve, and if the economy doesn’t pick up, then that would be a good thing for us to be able to say “look we opposed this thing vigorously” as opposed to “we tried but gave up” etc.

As I said before defeat the liberal Republicans during the primaries. You do not have another choice.

Was McConnell serious about stopping Porkulus Bill?

Ask this simple question. He knew that Collins,Specter and Snowe would bolt. Did he approach them to attempt to get them to stand with the GOP to get more cuts first?

No.

Do you see McConnell attempting to sanction the Socialist3 by withholding prime Committee positions?

NO.

There will be no Filibuster...the GOP believes they have their Filibuster proof cover in the Socialist3.

For clarification..

I have no illusions that the GOP will become a cause for limited government, ever... They wont...

Political parties are in the business of winning elections and if a significant portion of the population only votes for socialists, then a significant part of the GOP will be socialist. Its simply the physics of it.

Those of us who value freedom and liberty will need to find another way to guarantee those for ourselves and our children. This government and half the population are no longer compatible with the constitution. Socialism is NOT compatible with freedom.

Please do not lecture me on socialism and freedom. I know very well the evil brought by socialism.
