Dems Downplay Obama's Plan to Oversee 2010 Census

With Republicans increasingly critical of President Obama's decision to increase White House oversight of next year's census, some Democrats are downplaying the move, saying it is not even official yet.

Obama's plan to have the Census director report to the White House in addition to the Commerce Department has sparked protest from some Republicans, who accuse the president of a political power grab. One GOP lawmaker is pushing for an investigation into the planned move.

"I think this is way too premature," said Democratic consultant Dan Gerstein, claiming that this was all started by an "unnamed White House source saying they may do this" and that no announcement has been made yet.

In fact, Congressional Quarterly first reported Obama's plan last week and the White House issued a statement shortly afterward.

"From the first days of the transition, the census has been a priority for the president, and a process he wanted to re-evaluate," the administration said in the written statement. "There is historic precedent for the director of the census ... to work closely with White House senior management -- given the number of decisions that will have to be put before the president. We plan to return to that model in this administration."

A White House official told FOXNews.com on Wednesday that there would be no further announcements for now and declined to comment on Rep. Marsha Blackburn's call for an investigation.

"We believe this change in management, if adopted, may jeopardize the important and nonpartisan work product of a sensitive administrative agency, and potentially disrupt completion of a competent, reliable 2010 census," the letter reads.

Yes, it is important to socialist re-election to control what the U.S. citizen knows about who they have let into this country for their empowerment and other political purposes. Their ARROGANT AND "IN YOUR FACE" attitude just reinforces deception and fraud that we have come to expect from the radical left....

What do you suppose would happen if millions of Americans just refused to co-operate in any way with a census run by the ‘Rats...?

Crap if the dems are circling the wagon over this, its a serious, serious, and likely sinister thing.

These bastards are devious, treasonous, and unamerican.

About as likely as getting everyone to stop paying taxes in protest.

If you live in a red state please co-operate by telling the census taker you have 10 people in your household... if you live in a blue state please tell the census taker that despite the big house you live alone...

LOL. I'm sure King George III thought something similar back in the day :)

But that's the beautiful part about non-co-operation. Bad data's just as bad, if not worse, than no data :)

Seriously, do you have any idea what's done with census data these days? It's not just for apportionment and gerrymandering any more.

That's why mass quantities of civil disobedience would really raise Hob :)

It’s a clear violation of Article I Section 2 of the Constitution, but then Mr. Soetero started out his anti-presidency by violating the “Natural born” clause, so what the hell.

I think that’s a damn good hypothetical (suggestion).

Remember last time- there was a huge movement to ignore the census, lots of battles and arguing here and elsewhere.

Generally lots of white conservatives opted out, and the census showed huge growth in minority populations almost everywhere!

Then the data was used to move the boundaries of congressional districts, and to direct the flow of tax dollars.

Let's think about this one before we start a movement to boycott.

If they rely on modeling it will be critical to get reality recorded.

Imagine if NASA’s Hansen and Algor did the models with Rahm Emmanuel's help?

We did that last time, or many did.

From the first days of the transition, the census has been a priority for the president, and a process he wanted to re-evaluate

So...let me get this straight. An economy going down the tubes, unemployment growing, Iranian nuclear capability, Hamas terrorists bombing Israel, gas prices increasing and an effin' WAR IN AFGHANISTAN and Zero's priority is the CENSUS? And, um, uh, why didn't he mention he was planning to take control of it during the campaign.?

It's nice to know that 52% of the country can be played by con men. Get out your bridges.

:::::::::
Because if it had been mentioned, it would have sunk him with many who are aware of how dangerous allowing the census process to be politicized really is -— VERY DANGEROUS — for the exact reason that Hussein wants to control it. You are (we are) witnessing an attempted takeover of our free Republic. Realize it.

Oh, I've thought about it plenty, and I know exactly what I'm suggesting :)

And I would think that all the people and entities who/that depend on this data might wanna have a word with Zero before he screws with their livelihoods :)

I think that if he continues down this “in your face” road, he will soon piss off the wrong person. The birth certificate issue is always there for proper use when necessary by someone. It would be a good way to get rid of him - but this will depend on who he pisses off the most.

I predicted last year that the dims would try to manipulate the census for political gain. This is an important step in their plan to establish a permanent 0bama dictatorship.

Firing 7 US Attorneys is grounds for investigations and impeachment but politicizing the census merits little to no attention. Zeig Heil, baby!

I’ll lay $20 on the Hildebeest pulling some strings behind the scenes. After all, Biden would pick her for Veep if he’s elevated, then “resign” for health reasons......
