Jenelle Dorner, 32, of Bloomington, Indiana, doesnt eat chicken. In fact, she hardly eats anything. Each night while I sleep, Im fed nutrients and fluids by IV, says the married mother of one. Eight years ago, Dorner developed gastroparesis, a condition that delays or prevents food from reaching the intestines, where nutrients are absorbed. The possible cause? A hearty helping of bacteria-ridden chicken she ate at a restaurant 14 years ago.

Cook all chicken to 165F measured and indicated.

Assure you take good probiotics such as Reuteri, which kills salmonella you’ve ingested before it causes a problem.
Diabetics also get gastroparesis.
I have a friend who likes his chicken rare, he wants to see pink on the inside when he cuts it. His idea of a perfect steak is grey on the outside and still chilled in the middle.
I’m just waiting to say “told ya so...”
I find it very hard to believe that eating a meal 14 years ago caused a problem three days later, which then caused a disease 6 years later. This sounds more like a really, really bad reporter talking to a lawsuit that is waiting to happen.
probiotics are a joke since most of them are killed in the stomach by stomach acid. But marketing makes more sense to people than cold hard scientific facts.
I’m leery of these kinds of stories, those peta asshats are good at it. Sorry folks but it was onions last year making people sick.JRandomFreeper is right she just hit the lottery!
Food Irradiation (If the Greenies would allow it) would solve this once and for all......
The problem with this article that it’s linking something to her problem that isn’t clear that that was the case in the first place. And the article is compelte fear mongering. She’s only one of MILLIONS that this has happened to. It’s not wrong to claim that eating undercooked chicken is dangerous but using one extremely RARE case to scare is journalistic malpractice. But this is what the media is good at. Scaring people and helping getting democrats elected.
I call it Cushi.
And other people with neuropathies.
Not true. The most widely used probiotic is called "Lactobacillus Acidophilus". That second word translates to "acid loving". Not bothered at all by stomach acid.
But you are correct, irradiated foods are much more safe.

'Nuff said.
Sorry any time I see “science in(?) the public interest” cited as a source for information I immediately know to expect bad science and a political agenda.
BTW, good to see you are out of purgatory.

Pork Tartare is better than chicken sushi. Especially at room temperature in the Summer.
I've been eating raw hamburger meat (sirloin preferred) since I was a child. When the wife buys a couple of pounds of hamburger I usually scoop about 1/2 lb, load it with salt and a raw onion and dream I'm in heaven.
Irradiation is the answer.
