When the Reserve money market funds broke the buck, it freaked out the Chinese and other foreigners, who quite rationally rang their brokers and said "Get me the f- out of US assets!"

Sor0s is deeply evil, and he is no doubt opportunistically exploiting the calamity, but there's a reasonable explanation of the run that doesn't implicate him.

I could buy your argument if it had happened a couple of months before. But just as the candidates were going into the October month of a Presidential campaign? And with the favorite sputtering, stumbling and losing momentum?

That event turned the momentum of a close campaign at a fortuitous time for "That One."
