All 22,000?
Ironically, it will only rehire two laid off accountants to help distribute bail out money to different divisions within the company..
They said ‘some’.. translated- two accountants.
Either Obama is lying, or Catepillar’s CEO is lying.
One of the two.
Hells bells. Headlined on Drudge with a siren, no less.
Of course Caterpillar will rehire. They’ll need more heavy machinery for all the public works projects. Or, at least, sales won’t drop quite as much as they would without those projects.
So, we take money from thousands of small businesses and millions of working families, and give it to Caterpillar. Big deal.
Hah, hah!
Hussein is looking for any silver lining he can find...
The Cat CEO, Jim Owens, said earlier that the stimulus package would add about 3% to annual construction budget in the US and wouldn’t amount to many new machines.
They will only rehire if the get more ORDERS.
Does this now get classified as “whitemail”?
Oh well then, I don’t feel so bad about the government spending a few trillion and condemning this country to sure bankruptcy, as long as Catepillar will hire a few workers back. Proceed, Obama.................../s (as if I needed to)
If it passes and I get a million-dollar-a-year grant, I will hire one person at minimum wage to cut the ends off my cigars.
He may be right. I was looking at the pork chart for my area and saw front end loaders and road grades on the list og Obama goodies.
Ok Barry,
Since you now can correlate stimulus with jobs how about answering this question.
Last week we lost 500,000 jobs. How many of these will be replaced in kind ??
Most people don’t work in construction or pork related projects so I know he won’t ever be asked this one....
I'd hold off on buying, just saying.
What is going on here?
I’m in if CAT will promise to use some of the funds for “Rachel Corrie” Ops in the West Bank and Gaza.
I guess we hadn't caught the provision in the "stimulus bill"....Obama becomes Caterpillar's Chairman when it passes.
...it's in there somewhere, right under Nationalized Healthcare I beleive.
