JERUSALEM Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu has declared victory in Tuesday's parliamentary election. Netanyahu told his supporters in a speech early Wednesday that he was proud of the gains by his hardline party. Exit polls show Likud coming in second, but in a better position to lead a coalition government because of a strong showing by other nationalist parties.

It would be entertaining. On the other hand, Israel's campaign lasts a few months, we get to comment on the nuttiness for years.
hooray!
go Bibi!
Perception is nine tenths of reality. Own it, Bibi, and take the PM position.
Israel has a coalition government if no one wins a majority. There are several parties...no one got a majority. Netanyahu's party will not align with Kadima, who barely got more votes than Netanyahu.
A coalition will be formed with Netanyahu and another right leaning party that did better than before to form a new Israeli government.
Net net.....good news!!
He was in the chair before and did not close the door on Hamas. That said I think he’ll much tougher than the wimp Olmart. I pray he has the cajones to get the job done once and for all.
Very true! Bibi lived in the US from age 12 on, and is a graduate of MIT and also has an MBA from MIT.
Touch and smart... great combo...I’ll put him up against BHO that woos of an arugula eater any time.
Bibi warned Obama about Iran and Israel yesterday....before the election.
If Bibi wins, there will be teeth clenching, and the usual cursing from the Clintons... they detest him, and smug superiority from BHO, who fears him.
You mean like he did with Hezb’Allah when he was PM before?/s
Bibi ping
Harrah! Go Netanyahu. Israel as well as western civ. depends on this.
Gr8 post!
You are welcome, FRiend. Have to love ya some Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaretz!
Then Arlene Sphincter and Susan Clonic would join the Dems! ;)
In fact, no one knows yet who came in first because the ballots are still being counted and the race is close, probably closer than the statistical margin of error in the exit polls.
Then again, it may not matter if Likud is a close second anyway, because it is more likely that Likud can form a ruling coalition than Kadima.
lol. they are hardline? try Hamas, are they hardline?
his party will form the ruling coalition, he will lead it
Part of it [i.e., Bibi’s votes being undercounted] is because they count the military votes last.
IINM, that is always the case over there. The soldiers’ votes are counted last, and they tend to go overwhelmingly in favor of the “right” candidate.
(Someone with more knowledge of/experience in Israeli politics, pls. correct me if I’m off base here).
