Really sorry about CPAC. Dont want to incite anyone on the board, heres my take bad news,
Palin is losing political capital at an alarming rate.
She needs to learn how to count votes. You don’t cancel on the activists of the Party, who are looking for somebody to support.
You certainly don’t do it because of a few nuisance Dems in Alaska. It makes her look weak. She shoud be mingling with activists at the conservative function, building relationships and donor lists.
I was tempted to sign up, but am too busy this year.....she would have been the reason, with Rush as a close second. Of course, having met you at CPAC....it would have been worth it just to see you again.... /brown nose
This can only occur when Conservatives develop strong leaders with thick skins, a la Reagan. Run for office.
LOL...Bob is very well known in Virginia. He’s our very popular (elected) attorney general, although he will be resigning this month to run for governor. He does not face a primary unlike the Dems. He’s a good, conservative guy, native-son, military service, and he’ll be a great governor for Virginia. Republicans are getting behind him in an effort to take Virginia back this fall. Jindal has been here already, and Bob’s website says that Palin has confirmed to be here this summer.
I felt a strong need to pray for Sarah the other day. It kind of came out of the blue when I was thinking about politics.
She is facing a lot, now and in the future.
“You dont cancel on the activists of the Party”
She NEVER CANCELLED. She was never confirmed. She was invited just like Jindal, who also did not confirm. I called CPAC a couple weeks ago to see if she had confirmed yet and was told no (the same response I got in early January) but they were “hoping” she would attend. She stated back in January that she would not be doing any “political” events during the legislative session (which prompted my call to CPAC then); CPAC is clearly poltical. At least she’s not going back on her word.
It’s hard enough to run a national campaign and organization from Alaska...she needs to be at these events.
Political windows aren’t open forever,,,just asked near coronated Hillary and Rudy.
she did the right thing......her state is her responsiblility.....lets not give any more ammo to the rats....
I agree. Notwithstanding the situation with the volcano uncertainty and the legislature being in session, the alarming thing here is that she apparently feels the heat politically in Alaska. The long knives are really out for her up there. Mulitple Democrats have announced they are running for Governor in 2010.
I'm really concerned that all the constant political attacks and smearing are starting to take its toll on her core support in Alaska.
Maybe some Alaskan freepers can comment.
I don't think we have the time nor inclination to properly vet him, would much rather forget him.
On the other hand, I wouldn't mind watching an exhaustive vetting of his campaign workers ~ vet the bastiges as cage fighters, snake charmers and bullfighters, in any order, as long as it's all on the same day.
If they survive, give 'em each a volleyball and a coral atoll, come back in 50 years and see if the lizards have begun to evolve.......
Huckabee’s message IS NOT similar, in any way, shape or form.
***************
Cherry, as one of the Governor's most ardent supporters, I don't feel I serve her by clapping every time she burps (not saying you do).
She has to get a messaqe, and she has to get rid of the McCain/Establsihment Republican advisers who told her that Alfalfa was in her best intersts, imho. What good has come from going to Alfalfa? And if you're answer is none, who are the numbskulls that advsed her to go?
If our hope is that the Governor leads a movement to take back America, we first have to plead with her to get rid of those Establishment Alfalfa Republicans who stole America.
I’m not from Alaska, but succumbing to that kind of nuisance pressure is not impressive.
The Dems in Alaska are lightweights and political vote counting 101 dictates they are irrelevant.
Nationally, this makes her look not so politically astute and bordering on naieve. She is the reason I activated for McCain so it pains me to say these things.
Running her state and possibly running for the Senate seat should be a slam dunk, her goal should be developing and building a super strong national organization, email list, and donor banks to garner more polical leverage in 2010 midterms.
Huckabee’s message is NOT the same and Sarah's. He is as far from being a CONSERVATIVE as McCain is. Whoever made this inane comment is moronic.
I don’t know if all the freepers remember but Gov. Palin had actually state business during the DC weekend. I refer all to Gov. Palin’s press release. A little know event was a luncheon at one of the foreign policy think tanks Gov. Palin attended. I forgot to mention she did have dinner with Sen. McConnell and I think Sen. Feinstein as well. So it was not all about the Stinking Dinner.
As to Gov. Palin not attending CPAC I think It is a wise choice not to attend with all the crap going on in AK. I trust Gov. Palin to make the right decision about her own political future.
Sarah has priorites. At this moment, CPAC ain't at the top of the list. Alaska is.
“she needs to be at these events.”
She’ll be at these events when the time is right. BHO just began his presidency a couple weeks ago. From a practical standpoint, it’s too early to start attacking (although it’d be well-deserved). I just don’t think it’s wise. It’s also hypocritical to complain about her not being there when I recall the consensus was that she needed to “lay low” a bit after the national campaign. She will appear at CPAC in the next couple years—she doesn’t need to go every year nor would they likely ask her. I do think she’ll be out campaigning for Republicans this summer when the legislative session is over.
FWIW, I think it was disingenuous of the folks at CPAC to announce early on that she was coming when they knew she had not confirmed. I was going anyway, but a friend of mine only wanted to go if Palin was going to be there. So I called in early January and again two weeks ago and was told that she had never confirmed but they were “hoping” she would accept. They never should have advertised her attendance.
“CPAC ain’t at the top of the list. Alaska is.”
Then I suggest she stay in Alaska and she’ll be a fine Senator or Governor.
Are we so fragile that we can't stand Sarah missing one CPAC, four years before the next election?
