The weakness this shows is beyond belief. I watched
The Four Feathers this past weekend. The 1939 British version, not the politically corrected 2002 film. The Britain in that film would be unrecognizable today. Heck, even a Disney film like
Mary Poppins showed a circa-1910 England that was strong, confident, unbowed.
They once said the sun never sets on the British Empire. Today, the British nation is in permanent eclipse.
Heck, even a Disney film like Mary Poppins showed a circa-1910 England that was strong, confident, unbowed. IIRC in that movie Dick Van Dyke played a small second role as an extremely old banker. One of the things he said was: "If the banks fall, England falls!" (as he toppled over).
Obviously there have been a lot of banks falling lately.
