A shocking new video that appears to show Pakistani militants beheading a kidnapped Polish engineer has emerged. The seven-minute video appears to show the Polish hostage, Piotr Stanczak, sitting on the floor flanked by two masked men. Off camera, a militant briefly engages him in conversation before three others behead him. The video is so horrifying that some news wire agencies chose not to distribute the images.

As a point of interest, US Special Envoy Richard Holbrooke arrived in Pakistan today for meetings with top Pakistani leadership and representatives of civil society to acquaint himself with ‘ground realities’. Where’s zero’s head?

I have received your video link. I empathize with the poor militants who were forced to do this. This is the predictable result of eight years of Bush/Cheney policies. Thank God we now have a President who understands what really motivates the Taliban.
However, right now we have bigger problems. People in this country need to understand that STD clinics are in danger of closing; that “neighborhood stabilization” projects can’t get off the ground because there are no federal grants available; and that global warming is getting worse by the day (just look at the winter storms we just went through!).
Once we pass the Stimulus Package to stabilize the economy, and once we reach agreement on the Kyoto II Accords to stabilize the planet, we will be in a much better position to use all of the non-violent means at our disposal to address the Taliban issue. The problem is still you right-wing nuts, who are playing your obstruction games: if you would only get out of the way, President Obama could negotiate with the Taliban and give them back the country that was stolen from them.
Why does Hussein insist on negotiating with headhunters?
Hussein thinks he can talk to those folks effectively. They will reject him. He is over 30 years old and does not have a collection of heads yet which shows that he is weak and ineffective, a poor warrior and provider, unworthy of the one wife he has.
These are animals. Our efforts are wasted.
