I heard this as it happened via the scanner, and knew this was a runaway train heading right into the main Amtrak (Union Station) terminal. Think Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor "Silver Streak". They intentionally knocked it off the rails about 1/2 mile from the main yard, but even that attempt was a near miss.
Hardly even mentioned in the TV news reports that an 8 car chain of locomotives was heading towards the Loop right in the middle of the morning.
Scary when you put it that way!
Terror suspect arrested at O’Hare: police
A man wanted on a Minnesota warrant for alleged terror threats was arrested at O’Hare International Airport on Thursday night, police said.
Ismail Alqawasmi, 36, of Richfield, Minn., remains in Chicago Police custody after being arrested at 8 p.m. at O’Hare, according to police.
Alqawasmi flew into the United States from Amman, Jordan, on Royal Jordanian airlines and a customs official conducting a name check found an active warrant from Wright County in Buffalo, Minn, for “terroristic threats,” according to police.....
