Specter to buck party, vote for stimulus ($6.5b pay to play?)

Concerned about the nation’s “very severe economic recession,” U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter said today he plans to vote for Senate Democrats’ economic stimulus package, despite the political risk.

“If we don’t act, we may find ourselves in a depression like 1929,” Mr. Specter said after visiting the Schott Glass Technologies plant in Duryea. “That has to be avoided.”

Mr. Specter, a Republican and part of a bipartisan group of senators who worked on the proposal, said the $827 billion Senate version is far less expensive than what Democratic Senate leaders originally proposed.

“It cuts the Democratic proposal by $110 billion, which is a lot of money,” he said, noting criticism of the Senate proposal by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “So that’s a sign we must be on the right track.”

From what I hear Specter is planning a new run for Senate in 2010. This time lets destroy this rancid splash of vomit.

He is also one of the biggest mistakes the Republican Party has made.

PA is very liberal now so our options are limited.

Use the nuclear option.

The RINOs have failed...spectacularly and miserably. Just look at the 2006 and 2008 election results.

Either the RINOs step down and shut the *bleep* up, or the rest of the conservatives should just get up and walk away.

Leave them alone to their fate at the hands of the Marxist Democrat Party.

RE :”The RINOs have failed...spectacularly and miserably

I was mad when GWB campaigned to save Spector from Toomy in 2004. Then he loses congress in 2006 anyway. .

The three RINOs make republicans look bad. I hope Pelosi can kill their deal by adding back in a bunch of smelly crap. Meanwhile are there any moderate democrats that we can put pressure on? Liberals know how to organize well with Move-on playing commercials in the RINOs districts. Imagine if WE had commercials talking about the pork and our childrens debt, and democrat payoffs in the bill run against less liberal democrats.
