My point was that there is an entire generation of public/liberal school-educated Americans who BELIEVE that it isn’t Faaiiir for some people to get better grades, win at sports, have better shoes, cars, houses, etc than others. These are now Obama voters. (Perhaps, also, this is why thousands of people show up to audition for American Idol when their voices are mediocre or worse.)
Our country is doomed to repeat the history of the years of union negotiations which killed major American industries, because the collective memory of all the negative effects of those negotiations - strikes plus non-sustainable wage and benefit increases - has not been passed on to too many of today’s voters.
Nancy Pelosi’s spendulus bill is classic union negotiating. Ask for the moon, and moan as each tidbit of cheese is pared off, and call them ‘draconian cuts.’

Add to that that we are rapidly approaching a point when more than 50% population will pay no Federal Income tax (they will pay other taxes: FICA, sales, gas, but not the income tax - and with states that have State Income Tax, its based on the Federal income tax, so most likely they will not pay a State tax as well).
So this “not FAIR” mentality with ability to vote in more goodies - and we have a foundation of sliding into a some kind of socialist welfare state.
