Are you up for a cathartic act of civil disobedience? DaveG at Wheres the Change? has a subversive plan. I like it:
"I think its time for a comeback for civil disobedience. The only thing that angers me more than the rampant elitism and corruption in our government is that apparent tolerance for it that was demonstrated most recently with the appointment of what is almost certainly a tax cheat as the Treasury Secretary. Surely I am not alone in wondering why I am a big enough sap to pay tens of thousands of dollars in Federal taxes each and every year, while our Washington bureaucrats seem to get away consequence free with a pattern of cheating and fraud. And please, dont tell me Tom Daschle didnt get away with it. Sure, he lost his position for a cabinet position, but dont you think he will be laughing all the way back to his millions-a-year consulting gig? Will he be prosecuted for his fraud like I would be? Did he pay any penalties? No, and no. Since my single, solitary vote is nothing more that a BB in a machine gun world, I intend to start practicing civil disobedience. In the case of Treasury Secretary Geithner, I am going to have a rubber stamp made that says Tax Cheat! in block letters. Every time I see a piece of paper currency with Geithners signature on it, I am going to stamp over his name with my Tax Cheat stamp. Sure, this action is just as futile as my vote, but eventually maybe others will reach the same conclusion that I have: it is far past time to make our voices heard.'
Dave has a link to an inexpensive stampmaker at his blog, or you can go to taxcheatstamps.com until, that is, Dear Leader and Dear Treasury Tax Cheater move to shut them down. Remember: Dissent is no longer patriotic.
Okey-Dokey!
Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ping.
I thought you might appreciate this.
I’m in.
“Does anyone find it troubling that a tax cheat and a liar is working on the next bank bailout as we speak?”
Which one are you talking about? I thought several liars and tax cheats were working on the bank bailout?
that’s one of her more flattering pictures.

Um.
6.15?
:)
FReeper mail.
Look!
Some might argue that this constitutes defacement of currency, a federal offense. Whether or not stamping “TAX CHEAT!” over Geithner’s name would render the bill non-reissuable is debatable, in my opinion. Many people might refuse to accept the bill with the stamped red letters.
Some might argue that Giethner is a jackass.
Refuse my money, I will shop elsewhere.
Where? WHERE? :)
If it’s ubiquitous, they’ll have little choice.
I would betcha that most clerks wouldn't NOTICE...
In fact, isn’t it illegal to deface U.S. currency?
If you worry about what “some” say, you’ll never do anything.
Any action anyone takes will be opposed by some.
In fact, isnt it illegal to deface U.S. currency?
Should it be illegal for him to sign it? Would not that be defacement?
Marked bills might work in automated checkout counters in larger supermarket chains...
