Stunning Blunder Just Another Strand In Web Of Explanations.
Sen. Christopher J. Dodd went one contrivance too far last week at his carefully choreographed press event to explain his mortgage deals with Countrywide Financial. Dodd has engaged in so many contradictions in trying to manage the gathering storm that he probably did not recognize his stunning blunder.
At his Monday event, Dodd wouldn't let reporters have copies of the selected documents he let them glimpse. Instead, Dodd released a report from a Chicago firm hired with campaign funds to review his mortgage transactions. The report is carefully constructed to vindicate the Dodds and even make them appear to have fared worse than many other borrowers.
During his 35 years of representing Connecticut in Washington, Dodd created and could draw upon a deep reservoir of goodwill at home. In the past eight months, Dodd has drained it down to a muddy swamp of suspicion. He's mired in muck and he keeps making it worse.
The Dodd mortgage report was, like so much in this saga, inadvertently revealing. It scoured the country for every deal that in a single aspect might have been better than the ones the Dodds got at the behest of Countrywide's mortgage mogul, Angelo Mozilo.
Only a privileged few get all the best benefits piled on them, especially in two mortgages. Dodd was one of those, and he continues to refuse to admit that he knew it. Which is why Gypsy Rose Dodd only flashes his documents but won't let you read them.

Three reasons why you can’t trust chris dodd.
1. He’s a democrat.
2. He’s a politician.
3. He’s a democrat.
Why would you need any more?
I believe Dodd is vulnerable this next election.
Dodd is an aggressive sort of fellow.
Many an article has been published about his financial relations with certain organizations within the realm of his authority as the ranking Senator involved in Banking regulations.
Most articles allude to his association with Countrywide Financial, and a favorable loan, but seem to avoid his take of campaign contributions from a vast array of other organizations within the realm of his management including Fannie/Freddie.
There’s much more to this association, the contributions, etc. than meets the eye.
Wondering if there is any investigation as to what compelled these donors.
guess “angel” mozillo was the angel from hell, hunh?
Crazy rabbit. Did you not get the memo?
All (as in everyone) of the Democrats
(as in the Party of Corruption and IRS non-payments)
is above the law (as in it does not apply to them
even for murder, rape, treason, Logan violation,
conspiracy, vote fraud, ...).
Whitey, please pick up the White courtesy phone.
Dodd got the most money from Freddie and Fannie. He quashed DeMint’s attempt to bar Freddie and Fannie from making campaign donations.
Yet selected Democrats get to go on TV and blame the Republicans for lack of regulations.
“A scathing rebuke of Chris Dodd from the very liberal Hartford Courant.”
Only 36 years too late. Dodd has been corrupt, drunken womanizing moocher his entire worthless life. Not to mention a leading communist agent. So now the Courant wakes up? Too late.

Glen Reynolds at instapundit.com has been merciless on Dodd.
He must have paid his taxes
(Real reason: CT has a republican governor)
