EXCERPTS
In November 1980, (Ayers and Dohrn) turned themselves in. Over the years, most of the charges, from mob action to bombing conspiracy, had been dropped, or downgraded. Dohrn wound up with a $1,500 fine and three years’ probation; Ayers , with nothing.

Several years ago, for an article in Seven Days magazine, writer (Don) Rose obtained FBI reports on Ayers during his fugitive days. They included an interview with his father, whose theme with federal agents, Rose recalled, “was along the lines of `I probably didn’t take him camping enough.’ “

As guardians, Ayers/Dohrn get Rhodes scholarship for jailed Weatherman’s challenged son? Looks like they know how to work the system.
Being the child of left-wing domestic terrorists means never having to say youre sorry.
Such is the case of young Chesa Boudin, hailed on the front page of the New York Times this week for overcoming striking challenges and lifelong suffering to win a prestigious Rhodes scholarship. In a lengthy tear-jerker profile, Boudin is elevated to hero status as the article details his childhood bouts with epilepsy, dyslexia, and temper tantrums, before going on to Yale, traveling the world, and hitting the lecture circuit to exploit his celebrity status.
Boudin is the son of Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, members of the militant Weathermen. Theyre the 1960s group of rich-kid radicals who bombed government buildings and corporate headquarters, aided convicted felons in jail breaks, and participated in a 1981 Brinks armored car holdup in Nyack, N.Y., that took the lives of three innocent Americans in the name of peace. Boudins mother and father were convicted for their participation in the Nyack murders and armed robbery, and remain remorselessly in prison today.

I’m not so sure Tom (as his kids called him) was far away from his kids in ideology.
