McCain: Stimulus 'a setback to change' ["I thought we were going to have change"]
Politico ^ | Josh Kraushaar

Posted on 02/08/2009 11:43:05 AM PST by rabscuttle385

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said on Sunday he'll vote against President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill, calling the legislation “generational theft” in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

I thought we were going to have change," he said, in a shot at Obama's campaign slogan, "and that change meant we work together. This is a setback. This is a setback to all Americans because you promised Americans we’d work in a more bipartisan fashion, and that certainly is not the case in this bill,” McCain said.

McCain said the bill would saddle Americans with billions in future debt, and contained protectionist provisions that could be damaging to the economy.

“We’re going to amass the largest debt in the history of this country by any measurement, and we’re going to ask our kids and grandkids to pay for it,” McCain said.

“I know we’re in trouble. I know America needs a stimulus, we need tax cuts, we need to spend money on infrastructure and other programs that will put people to work. But this is not it.”

Again, you'll blame him for its passage because a Repub has to help negotiate the bill, but your type is really to blame.

Negotiate? McCain's idea of "negotiation" involves giving the Democrats everything they want and then some. The old fool is fairly predictable. Just you wait and see.

Your claim that the 1%ers (I presume you think of yourself as such) have some kind of monopoly on truth is a bit, um.........

Arrogant.

Yep. That's what I said.

Congrats on electing Odooma, you should be happy.

Had McCain been following orders, he would not have been shot down.

Because of his ego, he lost a total of 4 taxpayer’s aircrafts. At least one of them (there may have two) because he was flying drunk.

No one would touch him because his grandfather and father were admirals.

But he was bright enough to graduate fifth in his class…fifth from the bottom.

And yes he is an idot, idot.

Got me, scumbody?

You actually want Repubs to NOT work on the Health committee?

The abused wife syndrome is moving up to a new level. Now McRINO is "the Repubs" and we should no doubt be thankful that McCain helped keep Feingold from making CFR a liberal assault on the 1st Amendment. If it weren't for McCain Lieberman and 0bama might write a bad Cap & Trade/Climate Change bill. If not for McCain the liberals would write the Shamnesty bills.

Got some news for you too...

Socialized medicine was a lock ever since Duncan Hunter stepped out of the race. Everyone from that point on was *for* socialized medicine, including McCain't.

"Socialized medicine was a lock ever since Duncan Hunter stepped out of the race."

Unfortunately, Hunter was never really 'in' the race, not was Tom, nor Fred.

I know what you mean. Here in SC we have a lot of these Ron Paul rednecks who are actually out attacking Sarah Palin on a lot of stupid phony crap. Some people just put there heads up their you know what and keep them there. A lot of these people are also populists. They live like conservatives, but they just don't get it when it comes to politics. I think we can thank the public schools for some of this subconscious inbred socialism.

He didn’t have a problem with the frickin’ stimulus he rushed to put through when he suspended his campaign! He says that the stimulus is bad but that we need a stimulus. Talking out of both sides of his face. What he means is that a stimulus is ok as long as it is HIS stimulus. A real conservative would be pushing for no stimulus at all and would be calling for massive tax cuts, that is the only stimulus our country needs, the stimulus of less government in business and in our lives.

Arrogant.

Them that can brag, let 'em.

Every time the 1%ers here say it ain't gonna work, it doesn't, and every time they say it will, it does. We've been calling these races all the way along, because we are not influenced by Republicanism, nor pragmatism, nor shiny things, nor even wookies.

And we, as Reaganites (for the most part), having an interest in all three legs of Conservatism, are representative of all three legs. Because of that, we make a better barometer for what the Conservatives abroad are doing than those here who have other primary interests.

It isn't any harder than understanding that ever since Reagan, races have always been the Republican's to lose. What causes them to win is Conservatism. What causes them to lose is the lack thereof.

And the definition of Conservatism is the ability to harness all three pillars of Conservatism. If the candidate cannot do that, he will not win.

Every time the Republicans have won, it is because they at least feigned Conservatism well enough to convince the far right. Every time they have lost ground, it is because the far right has become dissatisfied.

And when the Right ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. Read 'em and weep.

Why, regular, of course. Any true coder knows that Code Red spoils the flavor of the Cheetos (puffy, slightly stale) :D

Yes, my keys are nasty-black fading to orange. XP
