A f@#&ing STUPID accident. You NEVER point a firearm at anything unless you are prepared and preparing to kill it. I had a friend/roommate once who pointed a shotgun at me as I walked through the door. He later said he was just joking and wanted to scare me. That was after he was thrown against the wall, disarmed and butt-ended with it.
A firearm needs to be respected and assumed to be loaded at all times. Not just by the gun owner, but by everyone who comes into your home and looks at or handles your weapon. God, what a terrible mistake - one moment of stupidity for this kid and his wife is gone. The inevitable use of this by the anti-gun crowd is going to make me ill.
An immediate call for help makes his alibi look good. Changing the course of events obviates this.
