WWII- We fought the war that was guaranteed by the ridiculous Versaille treaty, Russia added to their empire and we went home.
Korea-Stalemate against a third-rate nation. HST canned McArthur who would have won the war carrying it to China. Russia would have stayed home.
Vietnam-War waged by stupid politicians that guaranteed the handover of that nation to the communists.
MacArthur's strategy of "denying the enemy bases" by definition involves continually advancing to prevent the enemy from developing new bases. Somehow I doubt a full-fledged invasion and conquest of a Red China of well over half a billion people backed up by a nuclear USSR was a good idea.
