Yes, they would. In fact, we re already using the 20mm projectile version in Iraq (and have been for about 3 years) to protect our own ground forces from mortar shells. It seems not too long ago they celebrated the 100th interception of mortar fire over in Iraq.

The same electronics will guide these, and the lasers will be strong enough to destroy the targets...and in fact are already proving in testing that they can.

Yes, but given Israel’s nasty habit of transferring US weapons tech to the Chinese, I don’t think that we want to do that.

The last laser weapon we gave them, they gave the Chinese full access to it.
