Return of 'Fairness Doctrine'? (But of Course!)
RealClearPolitics ^ | 2/6/2008 | Samuel Chi

Michigan senator Debbie Stabenow apparently has decided to be the flag-bearer of the "Fairness Doctrine" debate. Speaking to Bill Press (who lost his gig on Obama 1260 in Washington when the station switched from liberal talk to financial news), Stabenow couched her argument with the term "accountability":

BILL PRESS: Yeah, I mean, look: They have a right to say that. They've got a right to express that. But, they should not be the only voices heard. So, is it time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I think it's absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it's called the Fairness Standard, whether it's called something else -- I absolutely think it's time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.

BILL PRESS: Can we count on you to push for some hearings in the United States Senate this year, to bring these owners in and hold them accountable?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I have already had some discussions with colleagues and, you know, I feel like that's gonna happen. Yep.

Yes, but wait a minute, isn’t he the one that went to a hooker? Or do I have that wrong?

Anyone who is from or has been to the “Winter-Water-Welfareland” can tell you exactly why no dimwitcrat politician from that state is in a position to tell anyone anywhere how to do anything or why.

Get back on the porch yappy Debbie.

So maybe his wife has an agenda then. And is using the Fairness Doctrine as revenge on him. Heck, who knows.

TROY — The co-founder and former CEO of the liberal-progressive Democracy Radio and husband of U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow was caught in February by a Troy police sting aimed at catching prostitutes, according to a police report.

Thomas L. Athans was stopped Feb. 26 by undercover officers investigating a possible prostitution ring in a room at the Residence Inn near Big Beaver and Interstate 75. Athans paid a 20-year-old prostitute $150 for sex in a Troy hotel but was not arrested, according to police reports obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by The Detroit News. The police report said officers observed Athans enter a room under surveillance and leave 15 minutes later. Detectives followed and stopped Athans’ silver 2002 Cadillac DeVille on Interstate 75 near Square Lake Road.

Athans told police he stopped at the hotel to see a female friend he met online. After calling her on his cell phone, he was given a room number and met the woman at the door. Once inside he placed $150 on a counter top. The woman collected the money and performed oral sex on him, Athans told police.

Officers entered the room and found sex toys, condoms, $431 in cash and a laptop computer. They arrested the woman, identified as Alycia Lorraine Martin, and charged her with prostitution. She was released on a $100 bond and has been ordered to appear in Troy District Court for a pre-trial hearing April 22.

We are a single red hair away from becoming a socialist hellhole; we are almost there.

We need to get her out as we'll need the name Senator Stabenow when the left runs OJ after he gets out of jail.

Democrats fear freedom of speech.

Every totalitarian ideology from socialism to communism to fascism has made it a primary goal to quickly shut down free speech. Organized harassment and intimidation operations during the political campaign foretold the coming attacks.

I called Stabonow’s office this morning and left a message, telling her that if liberal radio had any listeners, they’d have advertisers, and stations would keep them. I asked where is the balance on tv stations and newspapers, such as CBS,NBC,ABC,CNN, and MSNBC and the NY Times. I ended my message by asking if her husband has a financial interest in Air America. I don’t live in Michigan, so didn’t bother to leave my name or number. I had to call numerous times to get through. The first # I called 866-544-7573 started with a long commercial for 0’s stimulus package. UGH!!

They want a controlled, communist/socialist society, they want anyone that knows the truth to be silenced, but they can shove it up their arses...we won’t be silenced and what’s more WE have God with us.

Late last night as I was driving through Illinois on my way northward, a techno/dance station transitioned into Bill Press’ show.

It literally nauseated me to hear him champion him and his show as champions of free speech. He kept speaking of his interview with Stabenow and of the accountability of the airwaves to present a “balanced” viewpoint.

I’m just totally lost as to how a private corporation is in anyway accountable to the federal government regarding content when there is clearly no profanity or threat of violence being made. What business is it of the government to intervene here?

Press never brought that up. If he has listeners other than those trying to stay awake driving through small towns outside of Chicago, I somehow doubt they cared in the slightest.

It truly is infuriating to hear these morons who somehow hold positions of influence or power so clearly advocating Constitutional destruction.

A grassroots campaign should be started, via the Web and whatever conservative media hosts who will support it, to publicly and continually demand that the politicians pushing the "Fairness Doctrine" follow it's principles while pushing for it.

In other words, that they be pressured to give equal arguments against the "Fairness Doctrine" every time they argue for it.

I don't see how they can escape such a demand (in principle). After all, isn't this their definition of "fair" speech?

So when they refuse to do it (in practice), not only can their hypocrisy be pointed out, it can also be used as a specific example of why the "Fairness Doctrine" is actually unfair censorship that attacks the very purpose of the 1st Amendment - which is to protect individual opinion.

It seems this would be an easy, consistant protest demand that could spread fast and hit hard against this vile rape of free speech, while exposing the totalitarians pushing it for what they really are at the same time.

I just emailed Debbie a letter and used some of your talking points, in addition for many of my own.

I commented that she says she used to be a social worker, and told her that I am a nurse. Told her that she is definately out of touch with what is going on in the trenches in heath care, as well as with Americans.

What a stupid harridan she is.

Thank you for the inspiration. Now it is time for my weekly letter to my senator, Juan McCain. I know that he loves me so. LOL! I live to be a thorn in that man’s side. LOL!
