Even getting all the Democratic votes is touch-and-go. Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska, who is working on an alternative plan with a dozen colleagues on both sides, said "I told them I'd have a tough time voting for it." Asked if he had threatened a no vote, he said, "As a governor, I never said I'd veto. I just vetoed." Any Democrat voting against Obama on his first major legislative initiative to battle what he called a "catastrophic" problem would deal a body blow to his presidency before it gets fully under way.

None of this stimulus produces goods, or anything which adds value to the economy.
Its a boodoggle.

This is highly irresponsible for the President and Congressional leadership to be predicting doom and gloom for the economy if this bill doesn’t pass.
If it fails, it will merely be a political loss for them and nothing more. America will do just fine without this massive spending bill — better, in fact.
Obama was recently saying that his election meant that he had a mandate to bring our country essentially to National Socialism [i.e. private ownership, gov’t control].
Umm...no. His opponent was weak on Republican principles as was Bush. So our base was not energized. As unpopular as the president and bad as the economy was, Obama’s election was no landslide.
He should not forget that and not be surprised when the America people reject being saddled with enormous debt for programs that will do nothing to stimulate the economy.
If Dingy Harry is straining, it ain’t a VOTE that’s acomin’! Give that man a prunce!!!
