Victims of Cole bombing upset

A top officer slammed Obama's decision to seek the withdrawal of charges against the 2000 suspected U.S.S. Cole ship bomber.

The commanding officer of the U.S.S. Cole during the 2000 attack slammed President Barack Obama Friday for his decision to seek the withdrawal of charges against the suspected ship bomber and the president’s order to close the Guantanamo Bay prison.

“Personally, I am very disappointed he has gone forward with this,” said retired Cmdr. Kirk S. Lippold on MSNBC’s Morning Joe show. “But more important is the impact that has on the families who have waited for eight years for justice to have to wait another 120 days.”

Lippold’s comments were a glimpse of what Obama will hear at a Friday meeting with families of victims of the Cole bombing and 9/11 attacks. Lippold said he will be in attendance.

Relax, guys.

New charges are likely to be brought against al-Nashiri, probably in federal court.

Moussaoui and the shoe bomber were convicted in Federal Court. Let’s not exaggerate.

I have told many friends and relatives that their vote for 0bama was a vote to sell out my son and I will never forgive them for it.

What was their reply to that?

It is simply amazing that the Cole did not sink with such a huge hole ripped into her below the waterline.

The sailors are trained to handle those situations. We pray that the situation never arises, but no the less are trained for it.
The fact that the USS Cole didn't sink is a testament to the crew, (at all levels of leadership) and the outstanding training they received.

I would just ask, who instituted the 120 day review that prompted this “procedural move” to be necessary?

I caught the interview with Commander Lippold on Fox this morning. This guy is very impressive. Well spoken and clearly very intelligent and worldly. He'd make a good #2 for whoever the ‘Pubbies nominate in 2012.....

I have excommunicated many 'friends' and several relatives because of their treatment of ME prior to the election.

I support your actions and fully understand your motives.

God Bless your son!

The USS Cole was built here. This whole community took the attack very personally.

Let’s not exaggerate.

I understand what you are saying but maybe you should cc: the entire MSM. They are all pretty much celebrating "Charges dropped vs. suspect in 2000 USS Cole blast".

I'd like to be a fly on the wall during THAT meeting, in which Barry will undoubtedly get an earful.

Apparently, he did not want to make this announcement until AFTER the meeting, but somebody leaked it, probably to put him on the hot seat for making this asinine decision.

Me too..and we've hearing alot of this around the country. For years, people just couldn't understand the concept of "Brother Fighting Brother" during the Civil War...I think we understand now..and that's the litmus test for another one.

Thank your son for his service, for me, originalbuckeye. My only child - a son - just got out of the navy in December.

I pray for our military who must serve under that monstrosity, whom I don’t even believe is eligible to be president.

I am so angry right now!!

Do you know what it costs to put on one of these trials? Do you know about the security risks involved when you bring these people to the States? What was wrong with Guantanamo?

These people have no claim to protection under the U.S. criminal justice system. I don’t believe they’re entitled to that protection. The Left treats them as victims. I agree with the Left, they are victims - of their own fanaticism.

I think the real issue is the appearance of it, Obama’s willingness to drop charges to meet his goals and the fact that at this moment, this terrorist has no charges pending thus opening the door for lots of possibilities before new charges can be brought.

From a legal standpoint his status is no different from anyone else who has no criminal charges pending. Others on the world stage can step in and point this out and pressure Obama to simply release him. Technically, under our system of jurisprudence he should be able to just walk.

Dropping the charges at all just makes no sense. It makes Obama look like a muslim sympathizer to boot.

The whole Gitmo issues is nothing more than a liberal feel-good project gone awry anyway.

My family has done the same. We tried to tell them the truth but they didn't want to listen. The snide nasty lies about republicans never ceased. But the moment I fought back and talked about "0" I was called a racist.

PS Excellent tagline.

Exactly.

I hope it will be televised, but I’m sure Zero will continue to hide
from questions from the actual people of this country.
