Maybe she has put serious thought into her politics. Perhaps she's one of the older folks who remember when the Republicans were perceived as the party of Lincoln and got huge support from black people, including MLK. Maybe she's pro life like MLK's niece. Maybe she doesn't like the patronizing, taken-for-granted way many white Dems treat the blacks on their electoral plantation. Maybe she is unnerved by the almost North Korean mass adulation the One is getting. Maybe she's made some serious coin in her life and is just getting tired of seeing the fruits of her labor treated as the politicians' plaything and pissed away on boondoggles. Maybe Obama knew she didn't care for him and that's the reason she got shunted aside. Whatever, I welcome her to the reality based community.

I guess approval of Etta James’ comments here would look like hypocrisy to someone who sees moral equivalency between the “progressive’ left and the right.
