I think part of this is a troubled relationship with her mother, Naomi Judd, a well-known pro-life Republican, who traveled with Sarah Palin last October, introducing her at a number of appearances. Ashley went so far as to imply that it would have been good if her sister, Wyomina Judd, had been aborted, if only it hadn't been illegal at the time. Sad to see such family bitterness in public.
