Secession = The act of withdrawing from an organization, union, or especially a political entity.
Civil war = A war between organized groups to take control of a nation or region.
Revolutionary war = A war to overthrow the government by those who are governed.

But the declaration of independance only talks about “altering or abolishing” government. It is not specific to revolution. Both a secession and revolution are means to accomplishing this end. So I don’t see how the distinction is relevant.
Surely you are not arguing that people have the right to wage war to overthrow the government, but not to peacefully secede without bloodshed.

While the Revolutionary War thing would be fun, I'd prefer the secession thing. Less violent and, frankly, we should demonstrate to the world that Americans believe that people should be able to govern themselves. I think the Iraqis would be impressed! Isn't that what we just told them????
How soon can we leave???? How about before they piss away another trillion $$$ on Democratic Party enhancement programs!
