First Lady Michelle Obama told a young school girl who said she wanted to be First Lady when she grew up, "It doesn't pay much."
Mrs. Obama made the remark today at the Capital City Public Charter School in Washington where she and President Barack Obama paid a visit to students. After taking turns reading from a picture book on the 1969 moon landing by the Apollo 11 astronauts whose theme was for young people to dream big dreams for their lives, the President asked the students if they wanted to be an astronaut. One student did, another wanted to be president while one girl said she'd like to be First Lady, prompting Mrs. Obama to caution her, "It doesn't pay much."
The Obama's seem to have soured on life in the White House after only two weeks. President Obama told the students, "We were just tired of being in the White House."
He also said, "The reason we came to visit: A, we wanted to get out of the White House; B, we wanted to see you guys,"
Mrs. Obama's comment to the girl showed once again her obsession with money that was displayed on the campaign trail. Mrs. Obama made hundreds of thousands of dollars annually as a hospital executive and as a member of corporate boards, yet she complained bitterly about how hard it was for her and her husband to pay off their Ivy League college debts and pay for their daughters' dance and music lessons while living in a million dollar home in Chicago.
While campaigning for her husband last February, Mrs. Obama urged young people to serve their country in low paying jobs: "Dont go into corporate America. You know, become teachers. Work for the community. Be social workers. Be a nurse. Those are the careers that we need, and were encouraging our young people to do that. But if you make that choice, as we did, to move out of the money-making industry into the helping industry, then your salaries respond."
As First Lady, Mrs. Obama gets free housing, free butler, maid, laundry, kitchen and baby sitting services, a paid staff, an entertainment budget, a free theater, bowling alley and exercise room. A free vacation home in the mountains. Free use of limousines, executive jets and hotels when traveling. And she and her family will get the best medical care and security the Nation can provide.
Plus, she'll be able to cash-in to the tune of millions of dollars when she is no longer First Lady.
But most impotantly, Mrs. Obama has the rare and distinct honor of representing the United States of America at home and abroad. Of all the things to say to a child who aspires to be First Lady, Mrs. Obama is the only First Lady one can imagine responding by saying, "It doesn't pay much."
I miss Laura Bush.
Whatever it pays, it’s more than this beyooooohch is worth . . . what a nasty woman!
OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!1!1!1! Mommy! Make it stoooooooooop!!!!1!1
This just blows my mind bump.
I also miss the last classy First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush.
Wow..what a wrong message. It’s all about the benjamins, even being first lady.
Yeah, well some people enjoy the perks.
Yeah, the life of RUNNING for a campaign is sometimes a bit more cushy than actually getting the job.
What, is she supposed to paid to be married to Obama?
Money, money, money, that is all libs care about. It is even better if it is someone elses.
...she must've said 'I don't want any'.
Here's how I look at it. Leftists don't want other people to succeed where they did, and to have what they have. If there had been no cameras around, Michelle would have probably told the girl to be some housekeeper or something.
“It doesn’t pay much”?
It doesn’t pay much? Is that what we have become? Is it our responsibility now to pay the First Lady what she thinks she is owed? When did it become our jobs to work like dogs so we can provide major money for the woman who shares a bed with the guy we vote for President?
Seems to me we give them a free house, major security, trips all over the world and now this woman demands what? Seven figures? Me thinks she is ungrateful after a mere twelve days. Who died and made her Queen?
As far as ungrateful Michelle, I don't think she's going to be hurting from lack of an official salary.
3.9 more years of this?
You can take the....never mind
Normally time seems to fly by, but I have a feeling this will be a long, long 3.9 years.
