Nice try... but the worst didn't hit until 1981. The Reagan tax cuts didn't bring strong results for almost two years.... then the boom happened. Also, we're not talking about individual states...we're talking about the country as a whole. Nationally, we are in better shape now than in 1981. Outside of the financial meltdown brought on by Democrat/Marxist programs such as Fannie Mae (which was created during the Carter Administration, btw) which were manipulated by Barnie Frank, Maxine Waters, Christopher Dodd, just to name a few who thwarted every attempt to rein it in and stop it from blowing up. Even with banks in trouble, our economy GREW 1.83% in 2008.
