Well my bad, but the distortions from compression that linked website discusses won't explain the haloing.

I was asking for the specific image that you say shows "the haloing around the text images on Obama's COLB".

OK thanks, I have those. They were the reason I posted 295, but maybe I should do a side-by-side, that is actually a good idea.

This website seems to say that JPEGs can cause haloing around contrast transitions. Would the background to text transition do this?
