I hear this a lot but it isn’t a valid comparison, people on welfare live FAR better than working class whites or black slaves lived in slavery days and they do NO work for it! It is more like being kept as human pets.
Slavery is the forced involuntary servitude of one person to another. The “theft of person”, their labor, their talents, or their time, without proper compensation.
Working people work 5 months of the year to support welfare layabouts and their broods of “benefit enhancements”.
WE’RE the slaves. Not them.
I’m referring more to the loss of dignity, and inability to be self-reliant.
Yes - their standard of living is much better, but they have to compromise their freedom to achieve it.
So we are on the brink of full fledged socialism, which is just Marxism-lite, because people would rather surrender that dignity and freedom for handouts they haven’t earned on their own.
The republicans would like to free them from this state of existence, but they seem to be happy where they are at for now.

Darn right! 25%+ of my wages are stolen by the government before I even get a chance to spend the rest. Add 9.25% sales tax, several cents per gallon of gas, and a couple of thousand a year in property taxes and I think it's obvious where slavery exists.
If Schieffer didn’t say Republicans = racists, then it seems Dewayne Wickham’s column in USA Today certainly does.

Just when it seemed the Republican Party was rapidly descending into the political graveyard, a plunge that was hastened by Rush Limbaugh’s farcical grab at the party’s leadership reins, the GOP broke its fall by naming Michael Steele its chairman.
Steele, a former Maryland lieutenant governor, is a political moderate when measured against the right-wingers who put his party into a nose dive. He’s a pro-life, fiscal conservative on one hand, but he supports civil unions and affirmative action on the other. Yet it is his race, more than his positions on issues, that breathes new life into the Grand Old Party.
While the Democrats used a multiethnic, multiracial coalition to win the White House and strengthen its hold on both houses of Congress in last year’s election, the Republicans took on the look of a nearly all-white party at a time when this nation is becoming more diverse.

“Oh please” yourself. What he said is substantially factual. The Republican Party has always been overwhelmingly white. No where did I see where Shieffer accused the GOP of keeping out blacks.
