Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has endorsed Rick Perry for re-election, calling him the "true conservative" in a primary election showdown with fellow Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Palin, who electrified the GOP base as the party's vice presidential nominee last year, has strong support among the party's social conservatives. Her endorsement appeared aimed at undercutting Hutchison's appeal with GOP women. Both groups will be important in picking the party's nominee in next year's Republican primary.
In a letter to "Texas Republican women" distributed by the Perry campaign, Palin touts the Texas governor's conservative credentials.
"He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks by his guns and you know how I feel about guns," she said.
Palin cited one of the Perry campaign's top issues opposition to federal financial bailouts. And she singled out Perry's opposition to abortion rights.
"Not every child is born into ideal circumstances, but every life is sacred," Palin said in the mail appeal. "Rick Perry knows this it is at the core of his being."

Kay Bailey is for SCHIP, otherwise known as Socialized medicine, so another thing we know about Sarah now, she is AGAINST socialized medicine
Hey, you’re preaching to the choir here, Sarah Barracuda. :) Some of our fellow “conservatives” wouldn’t know one if they came up and bit them on the nose. One of the reasons that Republicans and Conservatives are having a rough go of it is because we are fighting amongst ourselves. Look what happened in the last elections. Everyone was smearing everyone else who didn’t measure up to their chosen “messiah”, so to speak. Personally, I’m getting sick at the lengths our so-called friends will go to in smearing some of our good folks....like Governor Palin. They are either dillusional or are on a suicide mission.
We need her email and bombard her with emails NOT to do it!
***My greatest fear is that Sarah will campaign for McCain in Arizona.
I think she will stay as far away from McCain as possible. I wonder if she even spoke to him during the Alfalfa dinner. From what I read he made some stupid ass jokes about her. That probably didn’t sit real well with her
The Texas statehouse and Perry are running headlong to alternative energy
I’m w/ you SB, I think I cut and pasted the same blog response and email 1000 times today about Sarah bein AGAINST the stimulus. I refuse to do it again here.
Now, as for Perry, being from Texas, I have had a few issues w/ him, little RINO at times, he’s been a tad weak on immigration (trans corridor project) and had the the issue w/ the HPV vaccination a while back, which is surprising b/c he is very socially conservative. Overall, he’s been a pretty good governor since W left. He’s definitely fiscally conservative.
What is surprising about this endorsement is the way he seemed to treat Sarah at the Govs meeting late last year, practically yanking her away from the mike at the press conference when she was the only one getting questions, but they do seem to be good buds. A buddy of mine from here wanted Hutch to get the VP slot, glad she didn’t and yes, she was extremely bitter and shunned Sarah. Payback time...
What makes me most happy about this (in addition that Perry is an A&M grad — WHOOOP!!) is that hopefully Sarah’s endorsement will keep Hutch out of the race. I would not vote for her in the primary, she is a RINO, VERY weak on immigration, which is a huge problem here, and she voted recently for the S-Chip. Plus, she needs to stay in the senate, or we’ll risk losing the seat. As much as it pains me to say it, TX is becoming more blue, thanks to the infestation of libs in the cities and I fear Hutch (even though a RINO) giving up that seat may let a Dem, like my mayor Bill White strongly compete for it. But maybe someone like Mike Williams could retain it. I’d also like to see Dan Patrick (VERY conservative state senator here run for that seat if Hutch bails).
Finally as AP would say on hotair, exit question — why would Sarah come out at this time and make this endorsement? Does it have anything to do w/ this stimulus controversy? It definitely shows solidarity b/w the two, i.e. the MM link referenced above.
***My greatest fear is that Sarah will campaign for McCain in Arizona. (Shudder)***

Excellent, excellant point. That’s why McCain, after not publicly endorsing her for 2012, now sponsors her down to DC. He’s keeping her close, for when he needs her—that’s John McCain.
I am old enough to remember the same crap being pulled on Reagan by the lefty media when he was Gov of CA....as if we were going to listen to them about whether RR was a true conservative....IMO it is proof positive that the bast—ds are scared s-—less of Sarah.....and they are a lot weaker today than in the 70’s.....because of sites like this and wegotsarah and others......and because she has the same connection with us that RR had......we trust her....when all is said and done....we trust her no matter what they say about her.
But that’s in Palin’s plan as well. Explore alt. energy but drill anyway.
Republican Women and Democrats will vote in the GOP Primary for KBH.
I would prefer to have a third option in the primary.
Wow! I didn’t know he made stupid a$$ jokes about her. I thought it was “Wonder Boy President” that bombed.
As long as its driven by the market and not by the Goobermint
It’s Rules for Radicals Rule #12, destroy from within, perhaps if Conservatives had gone to the polls on election day(All Conservatives, doesn’t matter what kind of Conservative) and Republicans instead of staying home we might have won, instead we are stuck with this Socialist Commie who wants Government to control EVERYTHING. Everyone knows the media cannot be trusted and what do people do, believe the media!! Don’t people know by now the AP has been spokespeople for the Obama campaign since January 2008. Before jumping to conclusions I like to read the facts, no matter who it is. I support Sarah because I strongly believe in many things she supports. Unfortunately the Rules for Radicals treatment has worked for some, instead of going after the REAL enemy we are instead fighting against ourselves. I don’t care if your for Romney, Huckabee, Palin, or whoever, we gotta take this country back from those who want to destroy it. If we spend all of the next 4 years fighting amongst ourselves who wins..I will tell you who wins, The Democrats
Hes keeping her close, for when he needs herthats John McCain.
***Gee, what a guy. (Not)***
Yep.
I note the local elementary school has solar panels on it now.
I didnt vote for that. (we have our own electric plant) but I am sure paying for it with taxes.
We agree. Many of our Republican and Conservative citizens helped in creating the ObamaNation. That is a fact and we all know it. And here we are...some of those same sort of people all up in arms about what is happening with President Obama in the White House and the Dems in control. People tried to fire warning shots, but they were damned and slammed for it. I have no use for those idiots.
Depends if they are decreasing any Mils for energy savings.
As to your other point, when she went to Alfalfa- I think the sirens sounded for her competitors and the Establishment. They called their propagandists, and they let her have it. They can't let her get a leg up.
Anyone have a link to the poll mentioned above that Hutch was WAY ahead in an early primary matchup? I had not heard that.
