Sarah Palin endorses Texas Gov. Rick Perry for re-election

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has endorsed Rick Perry for re-election, calling him the "true conservative" in a primary election showdown with fellow Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Palin, who electrified the GOP base as the party's vice presidential nominee last year, has strong support among the party's social conservatives. Her endorsement appeared aimed at undercutting Hutchison's appeal with GOP women. Both groups will be important in picking the party's nominee in next year's Republican primary.

In a letter to "Texas Republican women" distributed by the Perry campaign, Palin touts the Texas governor's conservative credentials.

"He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks by his guns – and you know how I feel about guns," she said.

Palin cited one of the Perry campaign's top issues – opposition to federal financial bailouts. And she singled out Perry's opposition to abortion rights.

"Not every child is born into ideal circumstances, but every life is sacred," Palin said in the mail appeal. "Rick Perry knows this – it is at the core of his being."

“Patterson won’t jump into this race nor the Senate race”

We should try to get him to go for Lt Gov.
Alas, Dewhurst has bottomless pit of his own money.

Gov. Palin is the real deal.
Am glad to see you didn’t get into the liberal trap.
There will be more twisting of her views and smears,
The media and the left in general see her as their worst enemy

I like both those pictures.

Sarah's even got me thinking of voting again for Guv Perry!;^) Maybe if she'd tour with him and come back to Live Oak Co.. You know she used to come down here from Wasilla for H.S. summer basketball clinics?

Gov. Perry is a very good governor, signs every pro-gun bill and is heads and shoulders above the sorry excuses for governors in other states. Manages fiscal house well.

Which “her”?

Palin. Perry managed to pull slightly over 39% of the vote the last time he ran. He's managed to offend the rural conservatives with his land grab plan for the benefit of foreign corporations and New York moneymen, and he offended the social conservatives by his plan for forced inoculation of all teenage girls at the behest of a lobbyist buddy.

And some conservatives think that Kay Bailey can do less harm in Austin than she can in DC.

“It’s Rules for Radicals Rule #12, destroy from within,”

Perry had a head start on that rule.

Truer words.

BTW Glenn Beck retracted his statement from yesterday (that Palin favors the stimulus package).

Well..........

My only strike against Sarah so far is this.

Perry has been fairly conservative but more by expedience rather than conviction.

I did vote for Kinky even as a conservative. I thought it would be fun to watch.

Seriuosly, the Governor in the State has less power that some other Governors, so he couldn’t do much harm.

I figured he would be benign.

Him and Willy The energy Czar smoking cigars and Doobs late at night. At least we would have a cowboy hat and a guitar in the Gov’s mansion L0L

What stopped me was the thought that Chris Bell might win.
So, I voted Perry

:(

Had a similiar experience with Rick Perry in 1996, at Rice University, when he was running for Congress (he lost to Steve Stockman).

He was paranoid, worrying about whether reporters were in the room. He mentioned it several times. He was afaid that if he opened up, someone would “mis-quote” him.

I thought “Hey, if you are telling the truth, your own convictions, what are you worried about?”

I’ll give yoy that but do you remember his “Immigration” ad on TV?

He said he’d be tough on the border but turned around 2 weeks after the election and said we were all dreaming if we thought a fence would be erected (or something to that effect).

He started his political as a “D” and changed to a “R” for political expediency.

So the choices are Perry, Hutchinson, or Houston Mayor Bill White as Texas Governor. I’d begrudgingly pick Perry, but maybe Kinky will run again.( Actually, White, for a “D” has some common sense).
