It’s a replacement religion for those who worship the God-given laws governing economics. It is very similar to worshiping nature, instead of worshipping nature’s God.

Magical thinking ~ they imagine Rand worked out one of the fundamentals and that it can be applied to all situations.

No doubt she would have been appalled to find her musings reduced to the status of holy scripture with their own acolytes and priests, with officialy prescribed interpretations.
