Beats me, but I wouldn't dare put my Mum, or my Aunt solving NIX dependencies when they wanted to intall something new on a beta'ish NIX OS. Hence they just settle for the bland-ola, dictatorat garbage that M$ churn out.
I wouldn't mind if M$ was bleeding edge, but it simply isn't!

I put a few people on a stable install of SuSE 10.3, and within a few months, they're proud they don't use M$ rubbish.

I personally I always find the Linux chest thumping amusing. I get paid no matter which operating system gets ****** up.
