What will it take to get your power back--who will have to do the work--the local power companies? Now that the roads are clear, do you think that they can repair the lines soon?

What it will take is long a$$ed hours put in by line workers. Most of the power companies around here have contracted extra help from out of state, and most crews are working 16 hour days. Power is mostly restored along main roadways in the towns and cities. In rural areas, customers near main roads will likely get power back within the next 2 weeks. It could be until the first week of March before it's completely restored in some areas, however. There are places where the ice and falling trees was so bad that it completely destroyed the power grid to the point that they're getting rid of everything there and rebuilding from scratch.

I expect my duplex to without power for the rest of the week at a minimum. My grandmother, who I'm staying with and looking after, has power in her neighborhood, but she doesn't have it yet because the power company hasn't reconnected the wires to her house. We've been waiting a couple of days for someone to get out there and do it. I hope they do soon, because she's starting to take a cold of some kind. I am too, for that matter, but I'll live. She's a 78 year old woman on the other hand, and she doesn't need to be getting sick. My dad is out of town at the moment, but we've got keys to his house. There wasn't power there either as of this weekend, but I'm hoping they'll have it on in his neighborhood soon so I can move her somewhere with normal heat as opposed to a kerosene heater.
