What a deal—they pay the tax but don’t get any benefits!

I don’t smoke either but some day soon it will be something you enjoy.

Im in FAVOR 61-cent-per-pack increase in the federal tobacco tax. Bigtime. No conservative should support smoking.
So you support empowering the nanny state. Sorry, that's not conservative.
Most people who are of your mindset have an unhealthy vice of their own. The only entertaining part of the nanny machine you built is watching it turn on those who created it.
I quit smoking and lost all of the weight, so I'll be watching the machine attack you from the sidelines. Enjoy.

So you’re a troll if you ask questions? Pardon me if I actually read the legislation (or at least an analysis of it).
Excuse me for dealing in facts.

Each State must pass a LAW requiring every student to present a valid certified birth certificate and or resident papers to enter school. Problem solved!

If you don’t know by now that Schip covers illegals and “kids” up to 30 years old, you live in la la land.
How do you know you are dealing in facts if you have to ask questions?

So they will tax poor people to give illegal aliens healthcare. It is called "compassion."
Now they can all sleep at night, secure in the knowledge they have Helped People.

Funds will only be spent on Citizens and legal residents if, each State passes a LAW requiring every student to present a valid certified birth certificate and or resident papers to enter school. Problem solved!

How about a say, $10.00 tax on a box of ammunition? 50 cents on a bottle of beer? Where does it stop?

"I simply turn on the Golden EIB Microphone and share my honest passions and beliefs with people. And they're free to go elsewhere. They're free to ignore; they're free to believe; they're free to be entertained, I don't care. They're free to do whatever they want.
But a lot of people aren't free to smoke cigarettes where they want; they're not free to drink where they want; they're not free to eat the kind of food they want to eat; they're not free to eat trans fats; they're not free to drive certain places. Pretty soon we're going to be told what kind of cars we have to drive. I can't cause that. I can't restrict anybody's freedom. We've elected a guy who can, does, and wants to, all under the guise of saving us. So I appreciate the effort, and I appreciate somewhat losing my temper here. But don't compare me ever to an authoritarian who thinks so little of people that without him they can barely breathe on their own. Don't ever do that."

So when will this get signed by Obama? When will people have to start paying the extra $0.61/pack? Will this apply to Indian reservation smokes? BTW, what’s the price at which smokers will quit? I’m guessing the gov’t is on the verge of milking this puppy too much.

The amount of tax they get already is mind boggling. Here’s an idea, everyone buy the patch, stop. See how long that additional .61 increase lasts. They would be begging people to smoke again, offering tax reductions.
